This Side Scan Sonar shows the debree from the Yancy\Bay Bridge collision of Jan. 21st 1970. The ship was later sank in 1990 as a part of a artificial reef program in the Gulf Stream.

Below is a great collection of various GPS coordinates including wrecks and general fishing hot spots. Some locations we have been able to provide a picture of the actual ship or artificial reef deployment.
NOTE: Most of these numbers were obtained from the Internet, various publications, and our own GPS unit. Most of these numbers should be quite accurate however the accompanying graphic"chart" is for general display purpose only and not for navigation. The reason for the chart graphic is to show generally where the coordinate is in a body of water relating to a land mass. The intent of the chart is to aid the navigator in planning a fishing trip. We welcome captains to share their favorite hot spot with our viewers, simply e mail the info and we will post ASAP.
* Please remember that depending on the type of GPS unit you may have, may effect the ability to locate the waypoint within varying degrees of accuracy. Selective availability should also be taken into consideration as well as GPS antenna reception. Captains should not soley rely on the following waypoint information. Boaters should use several means of navagation and check all navagation for accuracy before leaving the dock.

We have two offshore bouys tele numbers saved on our ship cell phone, we regularly call the bouys to check conditions, so should you.

Popular fishing spot. Dimensions: 410'X56'X29'. This 5,992 ton tanker sunk after being torpedoed by the U-754 on April 1, 1942. Except for the point of the bow, there is very little that remains that looks like a ship.

Blown up freighter, dimensions: 449'X57'X34' Approx. 13 miles from Cape Henry Wreck. She was a 7,117 ton bulk cargo carrier sunk after striking a mine laid by the U-701 on June 17, 1942. Lots of scattered debris

A lot of this information is hard to come by, even with the web.We will continue to research and promote various wrecks and fishing areas in the Chesapeake Bay and near offshore area of VA Beach. We welcome any help from our friends in the Diving and Fishing community in assistance with rare photograps, and wreck locations.)
ABOUT OUR GPS, SONAR, and RADAR:
We have used many different quality units over the years, including DGPS global mapping units. I have one personal favorite over all the units we have used, and yes it is a hand held. The Magellan Map WAAS 330M. The nav aids are very accurate, and the software has moon phases and even great land mapping as well. I simply carry this unit with me on our different boats, it just works fantastic. We have used this unit on Inland Waterway trips, and even in the car when traveling to different areas. Once I got lost in South Carolina looking for a marina, the gps unit showed me all the roads I need to get to where I was going. Very handy!
We have no affiliation with Magellan, for more info on the unit check the web or your nearest retailer.
One other good reason for always using handhelds for back up is that they are not tied to the ships electronic system. In the event of a power failure or lighting strike, your hand held should still function. This HAS happened to our boat while on the water. We have had complete power shut down of all electronics, however our battery powered hand held never missed a beat. Good reason to have one on at all times.
Our show boat is rigged with the new Furuno 1722C Navnet color Radar and Chartplotter with overlay . The boats sonar is also a Furuno unit, a FCV 582L 16 Color 50\200 kHz 600 watt fish finder. All of our marine electronics for the show boats and 36 Trojan were purchased from Boaters World. We have found the in store selection of marine electronics and informative staff to be most helpfull in our quest for the right nav gear. Great Catalog as well.
We use the 330M, 1722C, and the 582L, for wreck hunting.
