UPDATE:

Stage two is finally complete!! Performance test are finished with the 250's and the 140 Suzuki's.

Refit info. Pursuit 2800: All total we took the Pursuit to five locations over a span of around 13 weeks. Thanks again to Doug Whalen (now a Suzuki dealer) for the use of his trailer. Big thanks to Doug!

Deltaville VA:

The Jim Baugh Outdoors Pursuit 2800 open express fisherman completed a lot of post survey work in Deltaville VA. Lamey Marine in Norfolk VA installed the latest digital Cruisair and Ice Box. The boat was purchased in Deltaville and surveyed there as well. Bud Bowen was the Broker for the boat deal, congrads to Bud for doing a fine job and letting us work on the Pursuit early.

Topping VA:

Then the 2800 was transported to Topping VA where Marine Fabricators built the custom tower with second running station. Marine Fabricators also installed the Furuno color radar and sonar electronics package. This complete installation included manufacturing of the actual fiberglass top. The entire Marlin Tower was custom fitted and welded by Marine Fabricators. We also did a lot of brightwork and interior cleaning while at Marine Fabricators.

SaludaVA:

After the Tower was finished the new show boat was taken to Friday's Marine in Saluda VA to be re powered with twin 140 Suzuki four stroke outboards. Fridays wired the boat for the Suzuki's and also produced a beautiful custom dash. The Pursuit was at Fridays for about 12 days.

Urbanna VA:

After Fridays Marine completely rewired all electronics, gauges, and hydraulics, the boat was then taken to Urbanna VA to be finished in water. Once the boat reached Urbanna, the Marlin Tower was then reinstalled, and cabling complete. The in water installation lasted two days. The total refit and upgrades for this boat took about 13 weeks to complete.

Hampton:

Once the Pursuit was in Hampton, final adjustments were made to the engine mounts br S & G Marine and the custom canvas was installed by Cooks Custom Canvas. The new marine head was installed by Bluewater Marine and our first bottom paint job we did at Sunset Boating Center. KWC marine electronics provided the final electrical wiring for all our electronics after our shake down run.

S&G Marine also installed the twin 250 hp Suzuki four strokes and Teleflex hydrolic steering.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The show boat set sail for her maiden (refurbished) shake down cruise on May 25th 2003. The trip was over 60 miles to her home port of Hampton VA. On board was Bill Parkenson, Ray Johnstone, and Jim Baugh. Even with a 20 knot wind and three to four foot sea, the boat made it to Hampton in two hours.

Jim Baugh Outdoors has a rather complete production facility located in the company’s production boat, a vintage 36 foot Trojan Tri Cabin. She is powered by twin FWC 454 Crusader’s and has a 6.5kw Onan Generator.

The boat has received a complete refurbishment including engines, interior, and canvas. This vessel  has a complete playback facility for video and audio including on line wireless remote computers for streaming media while on the water.

When JBO is at sea, the crew can view all principle photography shot while on location. Sample video clips and media can be posted on the web directly from the production boat from any location. Video Playback on board includes DVC Pro, Digital Video, DVD and VHS. This vessel is documented “Jim Baugh Outdoors’, and is located at Jim Baugh Outdoors base port, Hampton Virginia.

Jim, and the production crew, live aboard the Trojan during most of the shooting season. The Trojan is truly a “on the water production facility,” that sleeps 6 people, has two staterooms with heads & showers, AC, gen set, full galley with microwave and Princess oven and complete entertainment and A\V production center.

The Trojan Tri Cab provides the Tripod in which the show gets some of it’s best offshore footage. The 14 1\2 beam provides a stable platform that cannot be matched for saltwater videography.

Many well known seamen and celebrities have toured this remarkable vessel. Some of our Trojan guests include: our friends at the Cousteau Society, musician Bill Bruford, his son Alex, and Tina Turner (well, ok, the shows mascot)

When Jim makes dockside promotional appearances, he usually has the show boat and the Trojan tied up together for fans to see.

You can look for Jim and the Jim Baugh Outdoors Marine Fleet at these waterside festivals:

When the JBO fleet is not at sea, they are located in Hampton Virginia, and can be seen at Sunset Boating Center, Customs House Marina, and the Hampton Public Piers.
